The ToyverseSuper7 Announces 3 3/4″ Alien Toyline

Super7 Announces 3 3/4″ Alien Toyline
Published on Sunday, July 15, 2012 by

One of the most unexpected announcements at SDCC this year was that Super7 would release the originally cancelled 3 3/4″ figures based on the 1979 movie, “Alien”

Super7 posted on their blog that their Reaction (Retro-Action) Figure Series would include the 5 unreleased Alien figures Kenner made in 1979. They were able to get the original prototypes, so the figures will be authentic to what was supposed to come out over 30 years ago including the 5 points of articulation that was seen in the vintage Star Wars line also made by Kenner and will be packaged on vintage styled blister cards.

There is no release dates mentioned, but apparently they will also release designer vinyl figures and 4 drinking glasses styled like the old Star Trek and Star Wars glasses you found at fast food restaurants in the 80′s

I’d love another set of cool Pizza Hut glasses to keep my Smurfs, Chipmunks, Fonzie, and Muppets company.

Having unreleased 1979 non-articulated figures finally released will only please a niche market. Most action figure folks are going to rip these anew for not having moveable ankles or whatever is vogue now. Casual collectors will not seek these out.

Maybe GI Joe will have gotten everyone used to reduced articulation for these to work :)

Seriously though, I don’t expect these to be a general retail item (Which is where you’d have the most complaints) I figure these will be very specialty market like the Gentle Giant oversized Star Wars figures. The same type of collector who spends $50-$140 for a 12″ 5 points of articulation figure is the same type that’ll buy these

I am all over these! I hope the wait is short…..

These will go right next to my vintage SW figs OR I will place them with my original 18″ Alien figure. I am not sure but I do know I will buy the piss put of these!!

I know what you mean.  I too have the vintage 18″ Kenner ALIEN figure still in the original box.  It wasn’t the sturdiest toy ever made, but it was the coolest.  The retractable double jaws were an awesome feature.  Sadly no other renditions of this creature have this feature.

Wow, in the box? That is awesome dude! I love my Alien and even with the modern remake, I still prefer the vintage version.

I must have these ALIEN figures.  This is a dream come true.  Hopefully Super 7 won’t stop there and make the rest of the ill-fated Nostromo crew in this vintage style.  I have the 18″ vintage Kenner ALIEN figure and was bummed Kenner had produced these figures.  I look forward to the ALIEN fast food glasses too.

Opps I meant I was bummed Kenner never produced these toys
